In year 2, it is crucial that children work on their basic literacy and maths skills. We know that teaching children at home is very challenging, and we appreciate that it might be impossible to teach all of these lessons each week. At St Denys Infants School, our priorities for year 2 children are as follows (in this order):

Learning objectives: To understand that Jesus offered forgiveness/ To understand what forgiveness means.
Discuss that Jesus taught us 'forgive and you will be forgiven' Watch the YouTube clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ED3fzkS-bhA The Parable of the unforgiving servant- stories from the bible. Questions: When have you given forgiveness? How can we say sorry? When have to asked for forgiveness?
Activity: Draw a picture to show when you have asked for forgiveness or when you forgave someone. You can use speech bubbles to show what someone might be saying.

Learning objectives: To understand that Jesus offered peace/ To understand what peace is.
What does peace mean? Recap that the good news Jesus teaches us is about peace. What is the symbol of peace? Discuss how a dove is a symbol of peace.
Activity: Close your eyes and think of peace inside yourself. Where would you go to find peace? Draw a picture of a dove and write the word peace in the middle of it. Draw pictures around the dove of peaceful places. Where might Christians go to find peace?
