In the second half of the Autumn term, we are continuing to learn about addition and subtraction within 10. We are also going to learn about 2D and 3D shapes, including naming and sorting them. We will then move on to place value with numbers up to 20.
In year 1, we are currently following the White Rose scheme of work. This is a scheme which is designed to teach children not only to become fluent and efficient mathematicians, but which encourages them to reason and to apply their understanding to the real world. This half term, we will be working on place value and on addition and subtraction within 10. While the numbers are low, this scheme of work ensures that the level of understanding is deep.
