Children today use technologies as a source of information, education and entertainment and it has become part of their daily lives. We want children to use technology and embrace all it has to offer but we have to be aware of the potential safety issues for children when they use the internet.
Children and young people need to be empowered to keep themselves safe. Children will be children – pushing boundaries and taking risks. At St Denys we teach the children ways to keep themselves safe on the internet as part of our e-safety curriculum. In Years 1 and 2 they have specific lessons relating to keeping personal information safe and cyber bullying.
You can also help. Teaching your child about technology should be seen as another part of keeping them safe, just like crossing the road or learning to swim.
