In the second half term of Autumn we are learning three different stories using Talk for Writing. We will begin with The Three Little Pigs, which links nicely to starting our Topic about Marvellous Materials. After that, we will learn Jack and the Beanstalk and we will finish the term learning all about the Christmas story. We will continue to learn how to form letters correctly, to use a full stop and capital letter when punctuating sentences and ensure words are spaced correctly. As the children's phonics learning progresses, the children will begin to experiment with using some of their sounds to spell more ambitious words.

In the first half-term in Autumn, we are learning the story of Funnybones - it's a classic, so you might remember it from your own time in school!  We have learnt a version of it off-by-heart using a method called 'Talk for Writing'.  This will then help us to write our own versions of the story.  We are focusing on laying out sentences correctly at the moment, using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces correctly.  Some of the children are adding their own describing words (adjectives) to their stories.
