April to May 2018

This half term we are learning about Mexico in Geography and learning about how plants grow.

We had a  lovely day out at Twycross Zoo after being snowed off in March.  We saw lots of animals, baby animals and learnt about different types of food that animals eat. We saw the giraffes eat the hay inside and the elephants were really big at the zoo. We saw the spotty leopard sleeping and we saw the funny monkeys.  He was swinging at the glass near us and it made everyone jump. The black spider monkeys had long tails to swing on the rope. They climbed up on the rope and jumped.

All about birds. We made clay owls, sketched owls in the style of Picasso and made bird flappers after taking part in the Big Schools Birdwatch.

In November, Ibstock Brick visited us to tell our class how bricks are made. They brought a brick with our class name on it, and different types of bricks to look at and touch. Then we made a brick each with our name on. Great fun was had.

We went to St Denys Church in November to see the 6 bells before they are taken away. We learnt about the sizes, the age of the biggest bell, one bell named after Queen Victoria, the sally rope and the clapper to make the sound in the bell. We made rubbings of the patterns and words on some bells.
