This half term's topic is Marvellous Materials. We will be learning about different materials and their uses in Science, types of weather in Geography and writing stories and poems in English. We will make character homes in DT and in Art we will learn about Vincent van Gogh and some of his paintings.
November 6th - Walk to St Denys Church to see the bells. Look on our topic page for photos.
October 24th - Back to school.
September 29th - Harvest at St Denys Church 2pm.
September 28th - Year 1 parents information evening 6pm in the hall.
September 20th - Walk to Mill Hill Wood for signs of autumn to use our senses for Science and poetry work. We had a lovely walk in our wellies. We saw different trees - Silver Birch, Oak, Ash and Maple, as well as catkins on the hazel tree.
August 24th - Welcome into Year 1!
Your child is encouraged to read their reading book regularly and they will be able to change their book daily. If your child would like to change their book more often before the half term, they can ask the teacher in the morning. As the children become better readers and more confident with their phonics and understanding, they will be reading longer books which may then take 2 or 3 days to read.
Library day is Wednesday when children can bring their library book into school to change.
P.E. days are on Monday and Thursday. Please can children with earrings either have them taken out at home, or be provided with tape to keep them safe during these lessons. Outdoor P.E. is on a Thursday, weather permitting, so outdoor P.E. kit can be either brought in on that day or left in school.
