Mrs. Standen and Mrs. Beanland work in our class.
August to October 2017
This half term's topic is Super Senses. We will be learning about our body and the senses in Science, Louis Braille in History and writing stories and poems in English. We will use clay and painting in Art and design and make hand puppets in DT.
September 28th - Year 1 parents information evening 6pm in the hall.
September 20th - Walk to Mill Hill Wood for signs of autumn to use our senses for Science and poetry work. We had a lovely walk in our wellies. We saw different trees - Silver Birch, Oak, Ash and Maple, as well as catkins on the hazel tree.
August 24th - Welcome into Year 1!
Your child is encouraged to change their reading book on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays following on from changing their book 3 times a week in Foundation. After half term, we will be encouraging children to read more often and they will be able to change their book daily. If your child would like to change their book more often before the half term, they can ask the teacher in the morning. As the children become better readers and more confident with their phonics and understanding, they will be reading longer books which may then take 2 or 3 days to read.
Library day is Wednesday when children can bring their library book into school to change.
P.E. days are on Monday and Thursday. Please can children with earrings either have them taken out at home, or be provided with tape to keep them safe during these lessons. Outdoor P.E. is on a Thursday, weather permitting, so outdoor P.E. kit can be either brought in on that day or left in school.
