Welcome to Holly Class' page. This page will give you information about what the children are learning at school.
Please use the links below to find out about different topics.

Spring term - Amazing Animals

This term we will be learning all about Amazing Animals. We will investigate the different classifications of animals such as bird, fish, mammal, reptile and amphibian and what animals fit into those classifications. We will also investigate what herbivores, carnivores and omnivores eat. Our topic will last the whole of Spring term and later on we will look at animals habitats, including what animal life is in our very own school pond!

Autumn Term 2

This half term our topic is Marvellous Materials.
We will be learning all about materials and their properties in Science, different kinds of weather in Science and building a house using materials in Design and Technology. In RE we will be learning why Christmas is important to Christians.

Autumn Term 1

This half term our topic is Super Senses

This half term's topic is all about our super senses. We will be learning about parts of our body such as bones, joints and our senses in Science, which will link to learning about the famous person, Louis Braille in History. We will make hand and finger puppets in DT linked to Superheroes and will illustrate an ebook and record sound effects for computing. We will link our senses to Autumn and learn about the changing seasons.

Useful Information

P.E. days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please can you ensure that children have both an indoor and outdoor kit available for these days. Can children with earrings either have them taken out at home or be provided with tape to keep them safe during these lessons please. Outdoor P.E is on a Tuesday, weather permitting, so outdoor P.E. kit can be either brought in that day or left in school.

Your child is encouraged to change their reading book after lunch on Monday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. After the half term the children will have the opportunity to change their reading book everyday.  As the children become better readers and more confident with their phonics and understanding, they will be reading longer books which may then take 2 or 3 days to read.

We will aim to hear the children read in a guided reading session once every two weeks. At other times in the week the children may be heard by other adults within school. Children are also reading during daily phonics session and often in English and cross curricular lessons too.
